Summary: CenterPoint Energy is looking for an ADMS Applications
Analysts to join our IT Team, located in Evansville, Indiana As an
Applications Analyst, you will support technologies powering
CenterPoint Energy's Advanced Distribution Management System (ADMS)
used to manage electric outages within our service areas. Essential
Functions:
- Work to understand Distribution Operations business needs from
the ADMS and develop utility business acumen over time.
- Work with IT and business stakeholders to define the scope and
objectives for all assigned projects
- Develop skillsets and support agile workflow within a
cross-functional Scrum team.
- Document current processes using procedural analysis and
standard process documentation techniques.
- Document formal business and technical requirements.
- Design proposed process improvements and demonstrate business
value of the proposed improvements.
- Build and maintain strong internal networks with key
stakeholders.
- Engage other IT resources on behalf of internal customers to
validate technical requirements and obtain time estimates and
costs.
- Manage tasks and ensure they are completed in a timely and
professional manner.
- Delivery of all work assignments, directions, and instructions
based on the priorities and time parameters.
- Development of code and/or configuration of the software in
accordance with defined user stories using one or more scripting
languages which may include Powershell, Ansible, python, SQL.
- Participate in the design/development of integration points
between applications.
- Contribute to the development of coding standards.
- Prepare and maintain test plans and test scripts for manual and
automated testing. Ensure high quality and accuracy is maintained
through to software release. Lead the execution of test plans and
test scripts to test software components and demonstrate the
business requirements are delivered. Provide feedback to the
development team and ensure the work is carried out in accordance
with the schedule and the quality requirements. Facilitate the
completion of User Acceptance Testing.
- Work outside standard business hours as required, to apply
system maintenance, upgrades, perform project implementation
activities, ensure on-time delivery or to respond to critical
business needs e.g. storm response. Participate in Primary or
Secondary on-call support as required. Achieve annual performance
objectives established with your supervisor.
- Participates in scheduled annual disaster recovery tests,
including maintenance of required documentation. Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Electric Engineering, Computer Science or
related discipline preferred. Professional Engineer's license in
Electrical and Computer field may substitute for degree.
Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years solution/software design and development
related experience.
- Understanding of continuous improvement (CI) techniques (Lean,
Kanban, 5S, etc) and general knowledge of DevOps strategies.
- Preferred Technology Experience: SQL query and reporting, Web
Services - REST/SOAP, MS Visual Studio, IntelliJ, Java Script,
Shell Scripting, Web Logic or equivalent application server
software. Server administration in Linux and Windows environments.
Virtual machine management of images and snapshots in Linux
KVM.
- Must demonstrate commitment to compliance with applicable laws
and regulations, the Company's Ethics and Compliance Code of
Conduct, and other Company policies and procedures, and take all
required training courses.
- Strong analytical skills. Excellent verbal and written
skills.
- Possess knowledge and skills in application development,
configuration & support. Design, construction, and creation of
software applications with capabilities around solving usability
problems, supplying updates and patches for bugs and security
holes. Testing & Troubleshooting. Maintenance and management of
applications for quality and security.
- Must demonstrate respect for all individuals and adhere to the

- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented and
collaborative environment.
- Ability to communicate technical issues to non-technical client
end-users.
- Excellent communication (verbal/written) and interpersonal
skills.
- Ability to prioritize and adapt to both routine and

- Ability to make effective presentations to client
end-users
- Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
